I can download the e-Book but can't open the e-Book.

There is a PDF on the Foundation Site at http://fpmt.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/eproducts/Explanation%20eBook%20Formats%20and%20How%20it%20Works.pdf which gives some guidance on adding ebooks to your devices.
There are two primary ebook formats which are epub which is what you would use for an apple device and mobi which is what you would use for a Kindle device. You may also have received a PDF format which can be opened on any device or computer.
The PDF linked about contains instructions on how to get the ebook onto the device of your choice and another option is to email it your self and open the email on the device you want to read it and that will usually give you a choice to open the epub in Apple books or the mobi in the Kindle app.
