The Online Learning Center has discussion forums for the following online courses:
• An FAQ and Technical Support Forum
• Buddhist Meditation 101: 1 forum within the course
• Buddhism in a Nutshell: 1 forum within the course
• Heart Advice for Death and Dying: 1 forum within the course
• Living in the Path: 1 forum for all the DB modules
• Discovering Buddhism: 1 forum for all the DB modules
• Basic Program: A number of forums in one area for all the BP modules
When you enroll in a course containing a discussion form, you will be opted in to receive emails for new discussion form posts.
The instructions below outline the methods to be unsubscribed from receiving emails for either (1) all discussion forums or (2) Individual discussion forums.
(1) How To Stop Receiving Emails from All Discussion Forums
- Click on your user name on the top right side of your webpage, then click on "Preferences".
- Then click on "Notification Preferences"
- If you want to disable all forms of email notifications, simply click "Disable Notifications" at the top of the page.
- If you want to only disable emails for all discussion forum posts, scroll down on the page and under "Forum" click the green ON buttons to turn them to OFF.
(2) How to Unsubscribe from Specific Discussion Forums
- If you want to stop receiving emails from a specific discussion forum, but still receiving email notifications for other forum posts, you will need to go into that course’s specific discussion forum page to unsubscribe. - For Meditation 101, Buddhism in a Nutshell, Heart Advice for Death & Dying, Discovering Buddhism, and Living in the Path forums:
Go to the specific course discussion forum, or the DB or Living in the Path discussion forums, and scroll down to the bottom of your left-side Navigation menu. Under “Administration” you will see the link to “Unsubscribe from this forum”.
(If you only see an option to ‘Subscribe to this forum’ then you are already unsubscribed from this forum and this option will allow you to subscribe back to the forum.)
- For Basic Program, there are multiple discussion forums and you can go into each forum and follow the instructions above to unsubscribe from each forum
Or within the BP forum area you can click on Forums under Activities.
- then you can see which of the BP forums you are subscribed to and turn your subscription on or off.
