There are a few different ways of navigating the site.
When you click on 'Forums' from the left hand 'Activities' menu you get to a page which shows all the forums for the module. As you have noticed, sometimes the description of these forums is cut off as this is just a summary page but if you then proceed to click on a forum it displays it in full and you can read the entire text.
Also if you go to the Forums directly form the main page then you go direct to the forum you choose which will display fully.
