You can get the enrollment keys for Buddhism in a Nutshell and Meditation 101 at http://shop.fpmt.org/Online-Programs_c_552.html and the course description gives an overview of the content for each of those courses. Each of the modules has a number of sessions you go through at your own pace and contain mp3 audio files and PDF readings and handouts. The main thing is to develop understanding and the courses do not have any required memorizations. There is no final exam or quiz for those introductory programs but if you then move onto Discovering Buddhism or Basic Program those courses have online quizzes and a final online exam.
When you complete the online courses you get an online certificate. There are some specific requirements to become an FPMT registered teacher and it would be important to check with the Education department at education@fpmt.org on requirements and which courses can help you meet them if that is your longer term intention.
