Hello,

I've been trying several times to download the flash video files for the BPOL module "mind and mental factors". I was able to download successfully video 1 and 2, but none of the rest. The download ends always up with the message "network connection interrupted", but there are no noticeable problems with my internet access. I am using Safari on MacOS X.

I would be very grateful if somebody could help. Thank you.

Thanks for your post in this FAQ and technical support forum. The error message you are getting sounds like it is an internet connection error message but you have already stated that are no noticeable problems with your access.

So i am unsure what might be causing this issue. I do know what we have had some other students have issue with downloading some MP3 files when using a Mac and Safari due to a known issue as outlined at https://onlinelearning.fpmt.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=317 which links to a forum post at http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=824997. where people had difficulties downloading using Safari. Most people were able to resolve this issue using a different internet browser such as Firefox and can i request if you can test if the downloads work with an alternative browser.

thank you for your answer. First, your suggestion seemed to work, downloading the files with mozilla created no error message.

But when i took a closer look on the downloaded files, they were only about 180 mb instead of 470 mb. When playing them, the video stopped accordingly after little more than an hour.

I encountered this problem so far only with the files of the module "Mind and Mental Factors" of BPOL. Is it possible there is something wrong with the files on the download server?

I am sorry to hear that the file downloads are still now working. From reading your email it sounds to me like the file download starts successfully but gets interrupted before completion and then only a portion of the file is downloaded. It still plays until it reaches the place it was interrupted. This could be due to an issue with the internet connection such as loss of signal or if any bandwidth limit is reached.

Are you accessing the internet using Wifi and in general is your signal strong and steady and does it have any limits in terms of bandwidth which might cause an interruption. Do you have any other place with a different connection you could test a download to see if it works correctly.

I have tested downloading the files from here an they download fully and correctly for me so i could not replicate your issue myself.

today I tried again to download the files, and it worked, without the slightest problem. So the mystery will remain unsolved :-)
