Hello, I am having trouble downloading the Flash video files for BPO Awareness and Knowers. I have installed VLC media player and Flashplayer. I want to use the files offline. Please advise how to remedy this problem. Thanks, Susan

Thank you for your post in this Technical Support forum. All the video files for BPO Awarenesses and Knowers are on the site as streaming videos for each individual session for playing online but are also available for download for offline viewing.

To download the videos you need to click on the options to Download Course Files in Flash Video Format from the home page of the course which opens a page at https://fpmt.box.com/s/mwq83v2jvao3zaaqmh61bryehc1n5mxu

This opens a directory listing which contains all the videos and to download them you need to right click on a video name to download and then select the option to download the video which is either 'Save Link As', 'Save File As', 'Save as' 'Download' or some other option which varies depending on what internet browser you use. This will then normally ask you to select the folder to save the file but some browsers have a default folder already selected for downloads such as a 'Downloads folder' this is something you can normally change when you select Options in your browser.

When the file is downloaded you should then be able to play it offline using VLC.

If you continue to have issues, please let me know more details on what the problem is and also what computer and internet browser you use and i will try and help further.

Hi Eamon, It seems that these flash video files need an Adobe Shockwave plugin so I have downloaded that along with the Flashplayer but they are still not downloading. I will try as per your instructions above. At the moment I am live streaming and downloading with IDM which is taking forever. Thanks, Susan

To play the streaming videos online you do need to have Adobe Flash installed but this is for playing the videos online by streaming them.

However if you open the webpage for the option to Download Course Files in Flash Video Format from the home page of the course which opens a page at http://onlinelearning.fpmt.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=1154 you should be able to download these files by selecting the file and downloading which does not require flash. On a PC you do this by right clicking the file and using the option to save the file locally. You can then play it offline using VLC etc.

Can you test if you can see this directory listing above and can download the files without requiring flash as it should not be needed for this.

Hello Eamon, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I saved the file to my PC, but it is only 25mb which means it will run for about 10 mins instead of two hours. I downloaded the same file with IDM and it was 304mb which runs for 2 hours. (Also video a bit jerky offline). I thought memory might be a problem but I still have 9Gb. So, not sure what the problem is but will try again. Thanks. Susan BTW I liked George's presentation. He makes it seem easy.
