Hi James

Thanks for your post in this FAQ and Technical Support forum. All the audio files for Discovering Buddhism can be downloaded to your computer by selecting the files and downloading them. Depending on what computer and internet browser you are using this is different, but in general for a PC you can right click on an audio file and the select the option to'Save as' or 'Save Link as' or 'Download' etc.

Then to add them to a Smartphone, this will vary depending on what type of smartphone you have. If you have an iphone you can add the files to Itunes and then select them to be synced to your smartphone. Some other smart phones can also use itunes or somehting similar and sometimes you can copy direct to an SD card of a smartphone.

I have tried several ways to download the audio files. The Intro in DB2. I downloaded all files individually using IDM, put them in a Folder named How to Meditate DB2.1 and Added the Folder to i Tunes. This worked like a dream. However, when I added the Folder How to Meditate DB2.2 to iTunes, it hanged up. Then, I changed to VLC and created a Playlist for the files. This played well, but I still had to select each file download individually. Then, I tried downloading the zipped file with all the audio files but wondered how to play each session individually? So, now I'm wondering what the best way is to download and play the audio files and which player to use and how to configure a Playlist for each session.

Hi Susan

Thanks for your post in this FAQ and technical support forum. All the audio files for Discovering Buddhism are standard MP3 files and should be easily able to be added to itunes without any problem. When you have either downloaded all the files individually or have downloaded and unzipped the zip file you should then be bale to add all these folders to itunes using the standard itunes method as outlined at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473#2

When you system hanged did it just freeze and not complete the action? I am wondering if somehow the files you downloaded were corrupted or did not complete.

Can you please download the files again and retry this process and let me know if the problem persists and if it gives you any more detail of the error? If so can you let me know what type of computer you use (PC, MAC), what operating system you use, what web browser you sue and what version of itunes you use and i will see if i can help any further.

When the files are in itunes you can then create a playlist for each session and add the files from each session to the playlist.

When using VLC this is good for playing individual files but i am not aware of how easy it is to create a playlist with and i would suggest you try itunes again for a playlist functionality

Thank you Eamon for responding to this enquiry. I think I have it sorted out. The reason iTunes hanged up is that it did not recognise the names of the Folders I created for each session, but wanted to run all the audio files as one session eg.DB M2 not DB2.1 etc. So, your suggestion of importing the files as one folder and then making Playlists is a good suggestion for iTunes. As far as the VLC player is concerned, it played each Folder I created for each session by just selecting them with play with VLC. It depends which is more time consuming. Thank you. Susan
