I listen to the discovering Buddhism courses online on my iPad most of the time, but sometimes the connection doesn't work or I'm not online and I would still like to listen to the mp3s.

It would be nice if with each module came a zip file containing all the files in that module, so I don't have to download them one by one, including the mp3's.

If this option is already available, please tell me where to find it.

Thanks very much for your forum post and suggestion. We currently do not have one zip file available for all mp3 files for the Discovering Buddhism courses or a single file for all the written materials.

However this is something that i will review further as i think it is a good idea and it might be possible to have one zip file for all the mp3 files for each module as long the overall file size does not become too large.

It will be more difficult to have a single zip file for all the written materials as some of the written materials are in the form of webpages and online quizzes rather than pdfs but currently each DB module already has one single PDF file for all the required readings for that module and also one PDF file for the transcript of the teaching for each module.

So, once again thank you for your post and this suggestion and i will post an update here in this forum if i am able to make one zip file available in each module containing all the mp3 teaching files.

Zip-files are smaller by definition as zip compresses the original files.

BTW - I find that I can't actually download the mp3s one by one either (instead my browser just...

BTW - I find that I can't actually download the mp3s one by one either (instead my browser just plays them), which makes it even more useful to have all the sound files in one zip file.

I have now added a zipped file to each of the first four Discovering Buddhism Modules containing the entire MP3 audio files for the module, for easy downloading. I will gradually add a similar file to the remaining modules over the next week.

I have also added a line of the individual sessions for DB Modules 1 and 2 explaining that it is possible to download the audio files either individually or in a single zipped file.

To download files from the site, please right click on the links below and select the option to 'Save Link as' or 'Save File As' or 'Download Linked File' or whatever option your browser has for saving files locally.

Thanks again for the suggestion to add the zipped file to each module

Is it possible that this is set up for the Basic Programme as well? I'm currently enrolled in the Tenets course and it's a lot of work to download all files in one go.

Unfortunately i do not think this will be a viable option for Basic Program as most of the Basic Program online courses have large video files and a single combined zipped file of these would be just too big a file to manage and also download. So due to this each of the files will have to be downloaded individually for the Basic Program courses.

The current zipped file for each Discovering Buddhism course contains all the files for each course in one downloadable file. When the file is downloaded it needs to be unzipped and then when it is unzipped separate folders for each session can be created and separate playlists can be created for each session in a suitable program for this. 

So for example when you download DB Module 2 you can unzip the file and then each session is marked in the actual filename eg Session 1 files begin with DBM2-1-

So you should be bale to create a folder for Session 1 and move these files to that folder etc. Or when you import all the files into Itunes, you can create a playlist for each session and add the files for each session to each new playlist.

We have to upgrade the software we use for the Online Learning center within the next few months and we cannot add any additional larger files until this is completed as all the files are part of the database size for upgrade. So hopefully the suggestions above will help for now
